Why Montessori?
Montessori education offers our children opportunities to develop their potential as they step out into the world as engaged, competent, responsible, and respectful citizens with an understanding and appreciation that learning is for life.
About CMS
At CMS, we believe these are the skills that create the leaders of tomorrow—teaching children to find beautiful solutions to difficult problems. It is the goal of CMS that our graduates become kind, deep thinkers, who grow helping each other and become the caring citizens our world needs.
CMS Programs
CMS has a Toddler classroom, two Primary classrooms, and an outdoor learning space. Each of these are carefully prepared to optimize the educational experience and make the most of Montessori principles and materials to encourage learning.
“We have both of our girls at CMS. After moving from Lexington to Georgetown we were a bit panicked to find childcare. We were worried about green space, class size and overall communication when looking for a school to enroll our girls. We found all of that at CMS. Their play area is phenomenal and allows the children to truly explore. The smaller class size allows my girls to get appropriate time with their teacher and build relationships with their classmates. We love the communication through the app and just the emails from Ms. Mindy and Ms. Julie on a regular basis. However, the biggest joy is seeing our daughters grow in vocabulary, independence, and communication. Seeing them come home and put to work what they did at school is everything to us and we can’t thank the teachers enough for all their work and love they give our girls daily!” -2022
Heather and Michael, Toddler Parents
“When I say we have been to every childcare facility in town, it’s not an understatement. We tried SO MANY facilities before we found what our son needed. A place where he was allowed to explore what he loved and encouraged to keep going! If he was ahead in areas, he wasn’t expected to wait for the rest of the classroom to catch up. Children’s Montessori School met him where he was with his education and continued to challenge him every day- which he loves! As he starts to master his Montessori work, he is able to teach friends and help them master skills as well. Mindy and the staff at CMS have truly been a blessing to him. He loves going to school, he loves his teachers and I know they love him as well. CMS is the best thing to happen with his early childhood education. My only concern is where we will go after kindergarten graduation; finding another school after the bar has been set so high will not be easy. We love CMS!” -2022
Ashley, Primary Parent
“Becoming a first time parent at the beginning of a pandemic added a whole extra layer to parenting. When it was time to seek childcare, it was a daunting task filled with anxiety. For whatever reason, my search randomly brought me to CMS and I’ve never been more grateful. Our son has grown leaps and bounds since first stepping foot in CMS. He’s become more independent, confident, and capable, but most importantly he is so deeply loved by the staff at CMS. I know they always have his best interests at heart and are focused on his overall well-being. They challenge him to grow while encouraging him to be confident in himself at just two years old. He comes home demonstrating a new skill each week from knowing the days of the week to being able use sign language and being able to count to 13 at age 2. You will not find a director who communicates better than Mindy and you won’t find a staff who truly loves kids more than the ones at CMS.” -2022
Michaela, Toddler Parent
“CMS was the first school (of several we enrolled in prior to finding our home here) where I left for work every day knowing my daughter was 100% cared for and in wonderful hands. The director and teachers uphold the Montessori methods and principles in the children’s education, and it is delivered in a loving and child-first environment. My son is currently enrolled in the primary program and comes home every Friday with a folder full of the wonderful crafts and projects he has worked on throughout the week! CMS prepared my daughter for a flourishing elementary education and is doing the same now for my son. I couldn’t be more grateful for this community, the people who operate and believe so deeply in it, and the lifelong friendships that my children and our family have formed here.” -2022
Kacie, Alumni and Primary Parent
“I can’t begin to say enough good things about CMS. The staff, the facility, and the culture exceeds expectations. We have been with CMS since March 2021, and both of my boys enjoy going to school every day. I am a stay-at-home mom and didn’t need “childcare” for my children, but a place for my children to go learn in a nurturing environment, and the opportunity to socialize with kids their age. CMS was the perfect fit for us! The 5 days/week, half day option was the best option for us. Both of my children have learned so much at CMS; socialization skills, life skills, and academic skills. The staff is always so friendly, inviting, and treats my children like their own! I feel very confident sending my kids to CMS everyday knowing they are cared for.” -2022
Mackenzie, Toddler & Primary Parent
“My daughter has been enrolled in the Toddler Program for over a year, and I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. The reason I say “our experience” rather that “her experience” is that CMS truly embraces the whole family. Through attending school events and volunteering, we have enjoyed meeting other families and feel that we are a part of a larger community of parents and children who embrace Montessori teachings. My daughter has truly blossomed over the past year, going from a non-verbal 18 month-old who cried whenever we left the room to an outgoing chatterbox who can’t wait to go to school everyday. She loves talking about her teachers, friends, and classroom pets and teaching us new games and songs. As an educator for almost 20 years, it was important that I find a place where our children could learn, grow, and enjoy childhood surrounded by trusted adults. We are very happy that we chose CMS, and would highly recommend it to other families.” -2018
Ali Wright, Parent
“We enrolled our daughter in CMS after a very frustrating experience at another facility, as well as hearing wonderful stories from friends that had children enrolled at CMS, and have never been so happy we made that decision! After many lengthy conversations with my husband, we decided that a Montessori approach to her education could help her overcome the frustrations from her old environment, and get her on the right track for a positive learning experience. From day one at CMS, we have never felt more at home. The staff is wonderful, the other children are a pleasure to be around, the fellow families are one big family, and our daughter showed immediate progress just in the first few months. Her fine and gross motor skills immediately improved, as well as beginning to speak full words and sentences, something she was not doing when she arrived. Our daughter is already counting to 10 and sings her ABC’s by herself, and she is only two years old! We cannot speak more highly of CMS, the CMS staff, and the Montessori method and what they have done for our daughter and our family.”

Hello! My name is Kamry Wells and I am a senior at Scott Co. High this year. I will be attending Asbury University in the fall of 2016 on a softball scholarship. I am in the Co-op Program for students wanting to major in education. My initial thought was to co-op at a public elementary school until I interviewed at CMS. I loved every part of how the children learn here. They are not rushed into their learning, but get to experiment with different subjects at their own pace. I absolutely love it and have found a home at CMS. It was definitely the best decision I could have made when choosing my Co-op School! -2015
Kamry, student teacher
CMS has taught my son how to respect others, show kindness, and to be a good citizen. I am also thrilled with how far he has come under the care of his teachers. As a five-year old he reads Shel Silverstein, he makes change correctly, and he can tell you where most countries are on a map! Most importantly, he delights in learning—he knows that he can learn anything if he sets his mind to it. I cannot take credit for teaching him any of these things—all the credit goes to the wonderful teachers of CMS! -2015

What drew me to CMS initially was the welcoming environment, the talented and amazing staff, and the dedication to inspiring children. What kept me was undoubtedly the enthusiasm for learning that each and every child in the school exhibits. Kids at CMS don’t just learn to read, write, and do complex math; they also learn to ask, to experiment, to wonder and to try. They are taught, from the very beginning, that education is an adventure to take—fun, exciting, and most importantly, up to them. My oldest, a CMS graduate currently in the fifth grade, still uses this philosophy and pursues interests through research and experimentation outside the classroom. I credit CMS with instilling a love of learning in her before she was even aware that not everyone has that. -2015
